Hokkaido Trip 2 - We stayed at Hotel & Condominium Ichihana (Furano) (Part 2: Dinner).

This summer we stayed at the Hotel & Condominium Ichihana in Furano.

Since I have already posted about the facilities, I would like to focus on the food, which is something to look forward to.

The restaurant will be KANZA, located next to the lounge.

Expectations are high as the restaurant is run by a winery.

Dinner

Dinner will be a course meal only (buffet in winter).

The menu is based on local production for local consumption using ingredients from Hokkaido.

(Menu list)

Amuse: carrot mousse & tomato consommé goat cheese bouchette

f:id:RKFN:20201007001036j:plain

The goat cheese was homemade from the milk of goats kept at the winery.

It had no smell and I thought that goat cheese tasted good when made fresh.

The carrot mousse has sea urchin in it, but the carrots are so strong that it could have done without the sea urchin.

Seasonal Vegetable Soup (Potato Soup)

f:id:RKFN:20201007001101j:plain

Hokkaido is all about potatoes, and this is as good as it gets.

Marinated Hokkaido Vegetables and Ginseng Salmon

f:id:RKFN:20201007001140j:plain

Ginsen salmon is a brand of salmon caught in the Hidaka region, and the name is only given to salmon that meet a certain size standard.

I was impressed by Hokkaido's delicious corn.

Sauteed mahi mahi with Furano basil sauce and Furano vegetable ratatouille

f:id:RKFN:20201007001152j:plain

Mazoi is said to be a member of the scorpionfish family, but I don't think we hear much about it in Honshu, so it seems to be a fish that can be taken in Hokkaido.

The meat was firm and light, making it a perfect fish for sautéing.

Grilled fillet of beef with red wine sauce and homemade spinach pasta

f:id:RKFN:20201007001215j:plain

The grilled beef fillet was quite tasty, including the grilling.

The red wine in the red wine sauce was said to be from a winery.

Furano Strawberry Parfait with Kamifurano Raspberry Sauce

f:id:RKFN:20201007001225j:plain

This was another authentic dessert.

I thought parfait was ice cream, but it is actually hardened whipped cream.

I forgot to take a picture of the wines, but you can enjoy wines by the glass or by the bottle from Furano winery and the wineries of the group.

They also had a service that offered multiple glasses of wine to go with the food for a specified amount.

Since we had no particular preference for grapes, etc., we could enjoy multiple glasses of the recommended ones, so we decided on a 3-glass course for 2,500 yen per person.

The glass is colored underneath and looks wonderful in different light.

It is not available for purchase as it seems to have already been discontinued.

The course meal was 6,000 yen per person, and as you can see from the photos, the quality was quite good.

As you can see from the picture, the quality was quite good. If you go to Furano, it is worth going just for the meal even if you stay at another place.

Reservations for meals must be made at least one day in advance.

I was going to write a summary up to breakfast, but today I will write up to dinner and go to the breakfast in part3.
