Hokkaido Trip31 - Angelique Voyage for chocolate voyage and crepes

スポンサードリンク

The main purpose of my visit to Hakodate in the fall of 2021 was to go to "Angelique Voyage," a store with a long line of customers that I had found when I visited Hakodate in the spring of 2021.

I visited without doing any preliminary research, thinking it was just a popular chocolate store.

However, there are various restrictions for tourists to purchase the popular "chocolat voyage," so I would like to leave a record of my visit as a reminder.

Angelique Voyage
Address: 3-11 Yayoi-cho, Hakodate, Hokkaido
Access: Walk from Suehirocho or Omachi City Tram Station.
There is no free parking, but if you park at the Hakodate Motomachi Tourist Parking Lot, you will receive a free one-hour ticket for purchases over 1,500 yen.

Angelique Voyage is a store that sells both take-out crepes with a "30-minute shelf life" and pastries such as chocolat voyages (baked goods are also available).

At the Angelique Voyage main store, entry is restricted to three groups due to Corona measures.

Although there are definitely more crepes with the catchphrase "30 minutes shelf life," there is a wait time because of the same line for merchandise sales.

The day I visited was the middle day of a three-day weekend, but after arriving at Hakodate Airport at 2:15 p.m., I rented a car and hurried to the store.

As you enter the store, you will see a cash register counter in front of you. This is where you can purchase products, order crepes, and chocolates.

The following are the rules to follow when purchasing chocolat voyage.

  • Chocolat Voyage is sold frozen, but must be eaten the same day when thawed.

  • It is possible to add refrigerant at the store, but it is only intended to be eaten at home (hotel) on the same day and cannot be brought home to be re-frozen; they provide a styrofoam box to keep it cold for about 8 hours, but the same applies here.

  • If you visit from outside Hakodate, there is a high degree of difficulty in bringing the food home on your own, and as a rule, it will be delivered regionally.

  • Although they will accept more than the amount sold in the store on the same day, it will require about a month for delivery since it is treated as mail order (as of November 2021).

For this reason, if you visit Hakodate as a tourist, the best way is to buy crepes and baked goods and ask for chocolat voyage to be mailed to you. Please ask the clerk at the cash register for details.

※Chocolat voyage is not expensive at 1,500 yen, so in Tokyo, you will need to pay the same level of delivery fee.

This time, since I visited on the first day, I had it delivered and ate it at home.
I was skeptical about the store's commitment, but the cream was delicious and the chocolate was well balanced, so it was a good memory of my trip to Hakodate.

They also sell baked goods, but since the most popular items are crepes and chocolat voyage, I tended to pass over these, but they looked delicious, so I bought some beurre de nège.

(Crepes)

The crepes, with the catchphrase "best before in 30 minutes," were only available on the regular menu (all strawberry menu items were sold out) as we visited in the evening.

The staff will tell you what you can order at the entrance of the store, so if you only want to buy crepes, you can decide in advance and pay at the cashier to receive your crepe rather than having to worry about it inside the store.

After ordering at the cashier, you can receive your crepe with very little wait time.

Two of us visited and ordered one crepe, a chocolate banana (600 yen).
It was a delicious crepe with a sticky dough and plenty of whipped cream, which is also used in the chocolate voyage.

If you want to enjoy the stickiness of the dough, it would be better to eat it in a short period of time, not necessarily 30 minutes.

There is no eat-in space, so you have to eat outside the store, but there is no space.
Therefore, many people eat while walking toward the Hakodate Motomachi Tourist Parking Lot, and you can often see people holding crepes as they walk toward the store from the parking lot.

Chocolavoyage is limited to the main store in Motomachi, but crepes and other items can also be purchased at the Hokuto store (111-5 Kaihatsu, Hokuto City, Hokkaido).
You may stop by the Hokuto store when renting a car at Hakodate Hokuto Station for sightseeing or when visiting the Hokuto Sakura Corridor.
